Some people report having had a hard time digesting collagen products in the past and ask us this question.
The answer is that it depends on what caused the indigestion.
Many collagen products contain unnecessary additives that may be responsible for this. If this was the case, then Landish marine collagen products will likely not be a problem because they are clean, with no additives, filler ingredients, or sulfites, not to mention no hormones, antibiotics, or contaminants.
In many other cases there is an intolerance to bovine collagen but not marine collagen. Marine collagen has a lighter molecular weight (smaller particle size) and it is more easily absorbed compared to bovine collagen. There may also be other aspects to bovine collagen that make it more difficult to process for some people.
With that said, it is possible (though very rare) a general intolerance to hydrolyzed collagen. If you have a severe digestive intolerance to a collagen product we recommend that you cease using it. If it's just a light intolerance, you can try reducing the serving size. Health Canada associates benefits of collagen consumption starting at 1,200 mg (1.2 g) daily.
